Vietnam Visa Exemption 2023: Visa-Free Countries List

Visa Exemption is a great way to save time and money when traveling to Vietnam. However, only citizens of eligible countries can use Visa Exemption. You should check the Vietnam visa exemption list below to see whether you need Visa to enter Vietnam or not.

1. Citizens from countries that have Vietnam Visa Exemption from August 15th, 2023

30 days Thailand, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and Kyrgyzstan.
21 days Philippines
14 days Myanmar, and Brunei

2. Foreign passports are exempt from visa requirements to Phu Quoc island for no longer than 30 days.

Vietnam's Regulations on Entry, Exit, and Residence states that all foreign nationals coming to Phu Quoc island will be exempted from Vietnam visas with a stay of no more than 30 days. You only need to note that your passport has at least 6 months validity and at 2 blank pages, then you can enjoy the trip in Phu Quoc Island with 30 days visa-free.

3. Visa exemption for APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders

APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) card holders with valid passports are exempted from Vietnam visa requirements for a stay of no longer than 60 days (code VNM). You should also note that you have to hold a valid passport (at least 06 months validity, and 02 blank pages) or equivalent travel documents.

Important note:

  • The day interval between 02 stays with visa exemption is not required anymore. Travelers visiting Vietnam with visa exemption can exit the country after the exemption period ends and return the country immediately for another exemption.
  • British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders are not eligible for the 15-day visa exemption. Hence, BNO passport holders are required to obtain a valid visa to visit Vietnam.
